HELB Loan window of application is now open for KMTC, TVET, University undergraduate first-time applicants and, second subsequent students. Below are the deadlines and application mode.  

Kindly note that you should make your application through the mode application indicated under each loan type.  

Undergraduate Students HELB Loan application  

Students doing degree courses are required to apply for undergraduate loans.

First-time undergraduate student loan is open for application and the deadline is 31st December. Application for first-time Undergraduate should be made through HELB Student Portal. 

Second and Subsequent loan is also open for application and the deadline is 30th October 2021. Application for Second and Subsequent should be made through HELB App or USSD Code *624#.

KMTC Afya Elimu Student Loan 

The Afya Elimu Student Loan is meant for students admitted to Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC). 

Afya Elimu loan window of application is only open for Second and Subsequent students.

The deadline for application is 31st October 2021. 

 Applications should be made through HELB App or USS Code *624#.

TVET Student Loan 

TVET student is meant for students admitted to technical institutions in Kenya and those doing diploma courses in universities and Colleges (excluding KMTC). 

TVET student applications are open for first time and subsequent applicants.

First-time TVET student loan application deadline is 31st December 2021. Applications should be through HELB student portal. 

Second and Subsequent TVET student loan application deadline is also 31st December and application mode is through HELB App and USSD Code *624#. 

First-time applicants are required to apply via the HELB Student portal because they must download application forms, print, and fill them, sign, attach the required documents and then submit them to the nearest Huduma Center (HELB Desk).  

Second and Subsequent HELB Loan applications are made online through mobile app or USSD Code. There is no manual submission of application forms.
