Employers were also urged to stay vigilant and always seek confirmation when they have doubts
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Monday issued a statement to all those seeking Police Clearance Certificates.
Through a tweet, the DCI confirmed the arrest of a cyber café attendant who was printing fake forms, warning that all those engaging in the criminal activity will be dealt with accordingly.
“#DCI Detectives today (Monday) afternoon arrested a Cyber Cafe Attendant who was found making fake Police Clearance Certificates.
“The suspect who is currently in lawful custody will be arraigned in court tomorrow (Tuesday) to face charges of making documents without Authority,†read the tweet.
Employers were also urged to stay vigilant and always seek confirmation when they have doubts about a potential employee’s credentials.
“The Director @DCI_Kenya takes this opportunity to warn members of the public who engage in such criminal activities and to request potential employers to always confirm with us in case of doubt,†said the DCI.
A Certificate of Good Conduct has become one of the must-have documents when applying for a job and is essentially a search into an individual’s records.
It confirms that the holder has not engaged in any criminal activity in the preceding six months and has not served any jail time for a crime.
To apply, one is required to have an original identification card and proceed to the DCI offices where fingerprints are taken.
There is also a processing fee of Sh1050.
